$25 Wyze ‘Band’ Activity Tracker Can Control Other Smart Home Devices

UPDATE: In Daxdi's full review, we found that the $25 Wyze Band is a super-affordable fitness tracker that lets you control Wyze and Alexa-connected smart home devices from your wrist.

Original Story:
Smart home device maker Wyze is getting into the connected health and fitness gadget market.

The company on Tuesday launched Wyze Band, an activity tracker that can be used to control its other smart home devices, and Wyze Scale, a “smart body composition monitor.” Both devices are available for purchase on Wyze’s website.

Wyze is known for its highly rated yet affordable products such as Wyze Cam, a 1080p home security camera, and Wyze Bulb, a white LED you can control with your voice.

Priced at just $24.99, the Band lets you turn on and tune Wyze Bulb, pause Wyze Cam notifications, and control Wyze Plug.

Plus, it has Amazon Alexa built in, so it can be used to control other non-Wyze smart home products.

On the lifestyle front, it offers heart-rate, step, and sleep tracking.

It features a 282ppi high-resolution screen you can customize it with different watch faces, and Wyze says it will last for up to 10 days on a charge.

In terms of water resistance, it has a 5ATM rating, meaning you can submerge it in 164 feet of water for up to 10 minutes.

Wyze Scale

Meanwhile, the $19.99 Wyze Scale measures 12 body metrics, including weight, body fat, lean body mass, heart rate, and more.

Recommended by Our Editors

The scale connects with the Wyze app, so you can keep track of your metrics over time and compare them to recommended levels for your age and gender.

It’s also compatible with Apple Health and Google Fit, with support for Fitbit and Samsung Health expected in the future.

The scale supports auto-recognition and app syncing for up to eight unique users, and an unlimited number of people can use it to take one-off measurements.

Whether the new activity tracker and smart scale live up to Wyze’s reputation as a company that makes good products that cost less than the competition remains to be seen.

Daxdi will, of course, be reviewing both products, so stay tuned.
