The news aggregator this week opened its curated video platform to all US users, offering thousands of broadcasts from global publishers, local stations, and independent producers.

"Video is also more deeply integrated into the entire Flipboard experience with new ways to discover individual clips as well as video-only feeds," according to a company announcement.

"For the first time, video plays natively on Flipboard, enabling better recommendations for related videos and giving users additional player controls to easily skip to the next video."

When running the latest version of the iOS or Android app, look for Flipboard TV in the Explore tab, where you can find content from Rolling Stone and Variety; Refinery29 and Vice Media Group; Euronews and Tribune Publishing; vlogger Jessica Neistadt; filmmaker Gene Nagata (aka Potato Jet); and video journalist Johnny Harris to name but a few.

"Today's launch builds on the publisher ecosystem we've been fostering for almost a decade, our foundational vision for content discovery, as well as our recent work around Flipboard TV," CEO Mike McCue said in a statement.

"The new native video player opens up new opportunities for new user experiences, partnerships, and monetization.

I expect us to partner with more creators and independent producers in the near future."

Follow specific publishers via their profile page, or mix it up with any of the 20 Flipboard TV channels covering travel, politics, celebrity, local, lifestyle, sports, news, and more.

Videos will also surface in the "For You" and topic feeds, highlighting curated content based on your activity.

And while most users will have to contend with pre-roll video ads from brands like Lexus, Samsung Galaxy owners can upgrade to a subscription-based, ad-free viewing experience.

The premium service costs $2.99 per month, after a complimentary trial period.
