Resident Evil is the Sylvester Stallone of video game franchises.
It’s hit and miss, but the hits are truly outstanding.
In the 25 years since Capcom redefined survival-horror gaming with the zombie-filled Spencer Mansion, we’ve seen the franchise spread and mutate faster than the T-Virus itself.
Sometimes we get revolutionary classics like Resident Evil 4; other times we get the forgettable Operation Raccoon City.
Resident Evil returns from the dead yet again on May 7 with the release of Resident Evil Village.
The game drops on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, as well as PC.
If you're planning to slay monsters on PC, you must ask yourself an important question: "Can I play Resident Evil Village on my PC?"
Why the Resident Evil Village Hype?
Recent Resident Evil titles (Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3) were excellent remakes of earlier series entries.
However, Resident Evil Village is a direct sequel to 2017’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
The title, Resident Evil Vill(age), is an awkward reference to the fact this is also Resident Evil 8 (or Resident Evil VIII).
You once again control humble hero Ethan Winters in a first-person perspective.
But instead of fighting for your life in a Louisiana swamp shack, you fight for your life in a spooky European burg.
New monsters include werewolves, vampires, and a giant woman named Lady Dimitrescu who has stirred up...complicated emotions on the internet.
Resident Evil 7 was a fantastic game, another return to form for the series after the debacle that was Resident Evil 6.
If Resident Evil Village can build on that success, with some extra RE4 flavor and next-gen visual oomph, then you'll have sufficient reasons to get hyped.
Where Can You Buy Resident Evil Village on PC?
You can pre-order Resident Evil Village for $59.99 on Steam.
For $79.99, you can pick up a bundle that includes the season pass, extra gear and trinkets, Resident Evil 7, and the new multiplayer game: Resident Evil: Re:Verse.
Separately, these items would cost nearly twice as much money, so if you're planning to go all in anyway, it's a good way to save some cash.
