Initial Specs Leak for Nvidia RTX 3080/3090 Founders Edition Graphics Cards

Nvidia may be keen to stem the flow of information regarding its next generation of Ampere-powered graphics cards following leaked images appearing earlier this week.

However, the first details of what we can expect from a trio of cards has found its way online.

As TechSpot reports, we're now expecting three Founders Edition launch cards that are most likely going to be called the RTX 3080, RTX 3080 Ti (or Super), and the RTX 3090.

All three are expected to use the unusual V-shaped PCB design revealed in the leaked images, and with it the bi-directional fan setup.

All three will be quite expensive, not least because the cooling solution is thought to cost $150 on its own.

High prices are expected for new graphics cards, and Nvidia will be relying on the promised performance to convince consumers to pay for them.

We're getting our first glimpse of that thanks to some initial technical specs leaking.

All three launch cards are expected to use Nvidia's GA102 GPU, but we don't know the clock speeds yet.

For the base RTX 3080 card, we're expecting 10GB of GDDR6X memory, a 320-bit memory interface, and a 320W TDP.

The RTX 3080 Ti/Super improves on that to offer 11GB of GDDR6X memory and a 352-bit memory interface while maintaining the 320W TDP.

Both cards will offer three DisplayPort and one HDMI connection.

For the enthusiasts out there for whom money is no object in the face or performance, Nvidia is set to offer the RTX 3090.

It will include 24GB of GDDR6X memory, which is double sided to fit it all on the card.

The memory interface is 384-bit, and the TDP increases to 350W.

Three Displayport, one HDMI, and NVLink is expected on this card.

Your guess is as good as mine as to how much these new cards will cost.

The closest comparison we have to the RTX 3090 is the Titan RTX, which includes 24GB of GDDR6 memory running on a 384-bit interface, but only has a TDP of 280W.

It costs $2,499.
