This year, it isn't happening.

As Ars Technica reports, multiple sources have confirmed that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is preparing to announce E3 2020 has been canceled.

The announcement was apparently meant to happen yesterday, March 10, but got delayed for some unknown reason.

Further evidence the Expo is canceled comes via game publisher Devolver Digital, who , "Cancel your E3 flights and hotels, y’all."

The cancellation of a show that attracts tens of thousands of people from around the world and packs them into the Los Angeles Convention Center should come as no surprise.

If and when the official announcement does appear today, coronavirus is likely to be the official reason for canceling the expo.

Back in January, the ESA released a statement explaining its intention to "reinvigorate the show and, frankly, to shake things up." Things have certainly been shaken up, at least, but not in a way anyone, including game publishers, developers, attendees, or gamers in general would have liked.
